Don't call it Steampunk...

...even though it is a full blown appreciation of said movement. See, there's the brass and then there's the brass. The latter isn't too keen on referencing such a 'fringe social element' (with 'punk' in its name, no less) when describing my re-visioning of the lobby... something about it being inappropriate for a children's museum.... so we're calling it Victorian Sci Fi. In my pitch I asserted that a library-cum-children's museum ought to honor the history and use of the building (a Carnegie Library 1901 - 1991) as well as the grandeur of the space through a "whimsical opulence". Not shown in this view is the tongue-in-cheek faux vintage storage unit designed to look like a card catalogue. (A very special thanks to Mark and Larry at Millwork by Design for that one.)  I'm ecstatic that the brass ok'd the brass.
We're in the midst of the final push before Evening of Play. Concurrent with the Wee/Art studio renovation, mind you.
